"The poorest country in the European Union, where there is nothing to see and no desire to visit."

That’s what is in most people’s minds; however, Bulgaria has a lot to offer and is totally worth visiting, especially when it comes to culture, nature, and beautiful views.

I have been living in Bulgaria for almost a year. To be honest, I had never heard of the country before. After moving here, I was able to see a different side of Europe, where people enjoy gathering outdoors, going to the theater, and, once you get to know them, they are as warm as Brazilian people.

Every country has its ups and downs, but when it comes to nature and architectural beauty, Bulgaria offers amazing experiences. From Sofia, where you can live the capital-city life and the days never seem to end because there is always something to do, to the small towns, where you experience fresh air and the traditional spirit of the country, and even to the seaside, where you can enjoy warm waters during the summer

The people may not always be the best, but once you create your own community, living in the country becomes much more enjoyable, where everyone is there to support you at any time and helps you build a lifestyle around it.

From my experience, I sometimes used to go out alone at night just to party or have a drink, and I don’t remember a single time when I didn’t meet random people who made the nightlife better and welcomed me into their groups without any issue.

As an LGBT person, it is very hard to move from a very liberal country to a more conservative one. However, it is noticeable that changes are happening, and LGBT people in Bulgaria are becoming more open about their sexuality, though often with fear of what could happen if they show too much.

In conclusion, no country is perfect, and neither is Bulgaria. However, the visit is totally worth it, and you will definitely have an amazing time and want to come back again. With incredible traditions, cuisine that is out of this world, and breathtaking views that make your eyes shine when you see them in person, Bulgaria leaves a lasting impression.

PS: enjoy the good Bulgarian wine, you won't regret it!
